What is the correct time of day to Train for an Event?
I have 3 answers;
- Any time that you have available is the correct time.
- Get in tune with your Body Clock. Maximise your training for the same time of day as the event.
- The Principle of Specificity. Conditions can be specific to the Time of Day. These need to be taken into account.
The best time of the day to train is when you are most likely to do it most consistently. This can be due to many reasons including your social setting, family commitments and location.
The Body Clock has an influence on blood pressure, body temperature, hormonal levels, and heart rate all of which play a role in your body's readiness for exercise. Therefore it is important to
realign your body clock to match the time of your event!
Some other variables to consider that are specific to the Time of Day include;
- Wind Conditions
- Energy Levels
- Food Intake
Do the majority of training when it works best for you, but remember the variables of the time of day that may be specific to your event.
